Piopio Prefers Parkwood Pellet Fire

Details

The house we purchased in October 2005 had a coal and wood duel burning log fire. We found that the existing fire needed to be on by 4 pm each day to heat the home sufficiently for the evening.

We both work during the day, and weekends are spent with sport or other family activities. Spending lots of time splitting firewood and then storing it have never been great options. Coal is expensive and dirty to use. We are also aware of the emission levels/environmental issues surrounding coal and wood burners and carbon levels from fires.

We researched the Parkwood web site mid 2006 and visited Di’s Parkwood Pellet Fire going in her home.

We asked Di and Ian to come and discuss Parkwood Pellet Fires with us. With the Parkwood Pellet Fire permanently set into the van, they arrived in Piopio to explain how they worked, check out our home site and give advice on whether the Parkwood Pellet Fire would be a sound option to heat our home.

Di and Ian gave us a quote for full cost and installation of the fire – council permit included – as well as discounted price for our initial home show inquiry. We contacted Di and Ian before the winter of 2007, they obtained the permit and the Parkwood Pellet fire was duly installed – the previous years’ quote honoured.

We are thrilled with the Parkwood Pellet fire. The timer we can set to come on each morning before we get up, or to come on in the late afternoon before we get home. We don’t waste wood keeping the fire going during the day when nobody is home.

The varied settings allow the house to be heated quickly and then lowered to maintain the heat throughout the evening. The fan pushes the heat well out into the room, ensuring coverage of a large area. The heat is such that we are now making inquiries into heat transfer kits to transfer the heat into the hall and bedrooms.

We would be happy to talk to anybody, via Ian and Di, who might be contemplating buying a Parkwood Pellet Fire – it simply works!
